Selling fake pot is a risky venture in Oklahoma.

The number of business owners in Oklahoma willing to risk it all and sell synthetic ma*****na appears to be on the decline, Mark Woodward, spokesman for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs said, but use of the drug continues to grow. Proof of the growth can be seen in hospital visit...

Oklahoma executes man for two rapes, murders

Death Penalty Watch. Whether you support or reject the death penalty, you need to read the comments of the victim's family after the wrong man spent several years on death row.

“We put the wrong man on death row with my mother,” Fowler said. “The first thing that I can remember when the DNA came out and pinpointed Ronnie Lott … I said to my wife, ‘My God, honey, we could have killed an innocent man.'”

After the wrong man spent years on death row for the 1986 and 1987 rapes and murders of two elderly women, Ronald Clinton Lott, 53, was put to death Tuesday for the crimes.

The Governor has called for a special session of the Legislature to enact "tort reform" (also called lawsuit reform). I am NOT a medical malpractice lawyer, but this does impact me. Passing this type of law does NOT reduce medical costs. There is no noticable reduction in the cost of services, but the doctors may make a higher profit. I could possible support lawsuit reform if the doctors lobbying for this would reduce the cost of medical services by the amount of the savings.

Until then, I'm AGAINST TORT REFORM. You will be as well if you ever have any serious injury. The law limits what you can recover.

Don't get me wrong. I have NEVER supported frivolous lawsuits. But I will ALWAYS support legitimate lawsuits. The amount that can be recovered by those actually damaged by medical malpractice are HARMED by tort reform.

From what I read in legal reports, Oklahoma's verdicts are very reasonable (i.e., LOW) even if very horrific situations. This law is simply unnecessary in Oklahoma.

Whatever your opinion, call your legislators. This is important!

I'm proud to be an American. I thank God that I am and that we have freedoms that our families and friends have fought and died for. We cannot take that freedom for granted, as a heavy price was paid. Proudly put your hand over your heart and say the Pledge of Allegiance and stand at attention during the Star Spangled Banner. These symbols of freedom are sacred. God bless America. July 4, 2013.

49 years ago, President Lyndon Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

On June 23, 1791, the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments to the Constitution) was ratified -- giving Americans some of the greatest personal liberties of anyone in the world. We still enjoy these rights more than 200 years later.

On June 22, 1964, the Supreme Court ruled that a person interrogated for suspected criminal behavior has a Sixth Amendment right to assistance of an attorney. Escobedo v. Illinois. In that particular case, Mr. Escobedo made several requests to see his lawyer, who, though present in the building, and despite persistent efforts, was refused access to his client. Today, you have the right to an attorney present during questioning--use that right!

The Federal government has proposed new rules for confronting a church shooter. The Oklahoman today reported the rules advise adults to "run, fight or hide" with fighting being a last resort. I don't have the answer, but I'm not sure that Oklahoma residents would respond in that order. Either way, church and school shootings are tragic and misguided.

Almost 800 years ago on June 15, 1215, King John of England put his seal on the Magna Carta, which led to the rights to jury trial and habeas corpus. The Great Charter provided that "no free man shall be arrested or imprisoned . . . except by a jury of his peers or by the law of the land."
