OKC Utilities have announced an assistance program to customers who have been affected by the federal government shutdown and cannot afford to pay their bills.

The state agency is giving relief to Oklahomans, but this assistance is temporary and you still need to apply.

Starting November 1, 2025, our Domestic Violence prosecutors will have a new tool to hold abusers accountable.

Under Senate Bill 607, statements a victim makes to officers when they respond to a call or in a protective-order hearing within a week of a domestic incident can be admissible in court, even if the victim cannot or does not want to testify.

This change in the law will hopefully help bridge the gap when victims fear retaliation or later recant.

To our law enforcement partners in Oklahoma County, please switch your body-worn camera on when responding to DV calls! It will assist with prosecuting abusers when their victim doesn't want to testify.
