-BULLARD ALERT
The Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission has instituted a new procedure for processing applications from medical care providers for payment of medical bills (Form 19). Traditionally, these filings were assigned the same claim number as the underlying Workers’ Compensation Claim filed by a claimant and notice was sent to the attorney who had previously entered an appearance for the Respondent and Insurance Carrier. The new process results in a DIFFERENT CLAIM NUMBER being assigned to the Form 19. The Commission views the filing of the Form 19 as a separate claim. Therefore, notwithstanding the previous Entry and Form 71 may already be on file from the respondent attorney, the Commission is now requiring a separate Entry and Form 71 for the Form 19 proceeding. Further, there is currently no process in place to notify counsel a separate filing has occurred. Please notify your service agent or appropriate individual of the change in order to avoid issues regarding defense and appearances.
