Reflection is a funny thing. In order to remain headed in the direction where you truly want to go, it’s always important to remember where you’ve been and how you got there. Honest reflection also comes with a wide range of emotions that bring you full circle and can often times leave you with more questions than you had when you started, but hopefully with a few of the answers you were looking for too.
It was 20 years ago at the end of this past April that Jerry Magill, my hardworking, brave Pop, forged a path into the World of entrepreneurship, with the dream of providing professional legal services his way, where he could control the work product, as well as his own path.
10 years later (and exactly 10 years ago today) his only Son made a similar decision to take the leap in hopes of also being able to control his own work product and destiny, deciding to try his chance at taking over the reigns of the law firm and make it his own.
Over the last 20 years, the clients of Jerry D. Magill, Attorney at Law, PLLC and Keith D. Magill, Attorney at Law, PLLC (which were brought full circle several years under the banner, Magill & Magill, PLLC) have been provided with honest, client-focused, and highly skilled legal services that I am proud to say are indicative of what our community deserves.
We aren’t alone in this journey and there are many faces that have been apart of our now 20-year, and counting, storyline. There’s far too many of you to name individually, but we thank all who have shared their lives and their individual skills with us and our clients. You have each impacted us greatly and have helped us to become who we are today.
I do want to particularly thank Virginia Fox Laakman for agreeing to join us in our mission several years ago. Her commitment to excellence is second to none and her presence has emboldened us to become better lawyers and better people.
Kimberley Campbell Stephenson, thank you for putting up with our regular madness and for trying to make sense of it all. You brighten our days and we regularly feed off of the optimism you provide us given the serious nature and effect of our work.
A special thank you to our loyal clients, past and present. It is your trust that has allowed to provide meaningful services and that has allowed us to gain such incredible experience that we are able to pass on and utilize for the benefit of all our clients.
Lastly, thank you to the man who started it all. Pops, it’s been a long road to 20 years. Then again, wasn’t it just yesterday that I came to see your brand new office at Founder’s Tower, admiring that fancy desk and view of Lake Hefner? Thank you for helping me transition into private practice all those years ago and for helping me to become a far better lawyer than I otherwise would have become.
Fortunately, this story doesn’t end here. It continues. 20 (and 10) years is just the beginning and we cannot be more excited for what comes next. Reflection, it sure is a funny thing. 🤔
