SUCCESS!!! In a 3-0 opinion the Court of Civil Appeals reversed my client’s VPO that was erroneously put in place against him. I originally filed the appeal for my client in the Supreme Court of Oklahoma who assigned it to the Court of Civil Appeals. It has taken a little over a year to get justice for my client but he finally has it!!

NOT GUILTY!!!!! last night we heard those two sweet words after a four day child abuse trial. Sammy Duncan and I fought tooth and nail for our client and we got to walk him out of the courtroom a free man!!!! The State of Oklahoma asked for a life sentence, and the jury voted for freedom!

A couple of days ago Oklahoma County Courthouse lost a true fixture. It has taken me a couple of days to post because honestly I am shocked and saddened. As a young lawyer Jerry drove me crazy when he would push in line and hustle you out of the way, but as I matured I came to expect it, and now I will miss it! Jerry Jones you were a legend amongst the defense bar. There will be no replacing you - but your stories will live on!!

A great result today!! When my client was attacked by his boss at work he filed a citation against his boss. The guy then turned around and filed a citation against my client. After a long trial today the court said there was no evidence that my client committed assault and battery. But, there was evidence that the boss committed an assault and battery on my client.

Thank you so much for trusting me with your case, and allowing me to go to trial!

Another case dismissed! The DA’s offices try to intimidate clients over setting cases for hearing. I have never regretted having a hearing, and making sure the DA knows how prepared I am to go forward with a case for my client.

Case dismissed! Today I won the unwinnable hearing, and my client went home a free man instead of to prison for 5 years!

I always post my victories and I think it’s important to post the losses too. Today, my client was sentenced to death after 4 full weeks of trial that were bitterly fought everyday. I am crushed and clinging to the hope that there is an issue for this case to come back on appeal. In doing this work, particularly death penalty cases, losses are inevitable.
