In Mississippi nutrition labels cannot be enforced.

In 2013, lawmakers barred towns from forcing restaurants to include nutrition information or calorie counts on menus. The same bill — also known as the Anti-Bloomberg Bill — bans communities from requiring restaurants to limit portion sizes. At least you're kept in the dark when it's cheat day? Bill to change policy after OKC firefighter disciplined signed into law -- It’s a story that shocked residents across Oklahoma during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

An Oklahoma City firefighter was disciplined for driving an injured toddler to a local hospital.

In January of 2021, Oklahoma City Fire Maj. Corey Britt was called to the scene of a toddler with second-degree burns all over her body.

The City of Oklahoma City has selected global architectural design firm, Populous, to develop a master plan for the renovations at ASM Global-managed Paycom Center. New amenities and improvements are designed to enhance the guest experience at Oklahoma City Thunder NBA games and live entertainment events.

Renovation plans are part of voter-approved Oklahoma City’s MAPS 4, a debt-free public improvement program funded by a temporary sales tax. The funding includes $105 million for Paycom Center enhancements and renovations. Populous previously designed and delivered the state-of-the-art MAPS 3 Oklahoma City Convention Center, a $288 million project also funded by the MAPS program that opened January 2021.

In Michigan you can't sell your vehicle on a Sunday.

Officials at the To***co Settlement Endowment Trust praised the signing of a new state law on Monday that will modify youth purchase, use, or possession - PUP - laws to hold the to***co industry responsible for their efforts to addict children.

PUP laws were passed in the 1990s to reduce youth access to to***co but the policies did not stop retailers from illegally selling to***co products to children. The new law will eliminate fines for youth caught with to***co and instead require them to attend a course about to***co addiction through the Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission. The new law also requires parents to be notified.

In Massachusetts it's illegal to tell fortunes without certification.

Another hurdle: A fortune teller must live in Massachusetts for at least one year in order to apply for a license. This law helps prohibit psychics from taking all of your mullah in exchange for false predictions.

A Mustang Public Schools spokesperson said an employee recently resigned after an internal investigation uncovered irregularities.

“One of our staff members was placed on leave and eventually resigned late this week after district internal financial controls uncovered irregularities which pointed to potential embezzlement,” the district said in a statement.

Administrators said they contacted law enforcement within hours. The superintendent said the district will cooperate with the police.

An Oklahoma state agency says it is canceling a multi-million dollar contract with a local restaurant following “suspected fraudulent activity.”

Last month, a report by the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency raised eyebrows about a four-month investigation into significant expenditure growth by the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department.

The report focused on lawmaker concerns regarding a contract with Swadley’s Bar-B-Q restaurants.

Officials say the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department has paid $13 million to Swadley’s Bar-B-Q restaurants to renovate and run the Foggy Bottom Kitchens in certain Oklahoma state parks.

In Maine it's illegal to park in front of Dunkin' Donuts.

You donut even know how much the town of South Berwick, Maine, loves its Dunkin' Donuts coffee. This law was enacted because the coffee and donut chain is a hot-spot and the parking lot can turn into a mega traffic jam. Talk about a caffeine rush!

Oklahoma City University School of Law has announced the receipt of a $120,000 grant from the Kirkpatrick Foundation to grow the law school’s Animal Law Program. The Program was launched in 2019 through the generous support of the Foundation with the goal of OCU Law becoming a top school for Animal Law in the US.

This grant marks a significant expansion in OCU Law’s Animal Law Program, as the school seeks to hire a visiting law professor to teach Animal Law courses during the 2022-23 school year.

Epic Charter Schools’ messy divorce from its co-founders has resulted in yet another lawsuit.

A former subsidiary now known as Community Strategies-CA Inc. filed a breach of contract suit this month in Oklahoma County District Court, seeking at least $430,573 from the school board of Epic One-on-One and Epic Blended Learning Centers, which are both Oklahoma-based charter schools.

The Traverse Wind Energy Center, billed as one of the largest wind facilities in the world and the largest ever built in a single phase in North America, has commenced commercial operations in Blaine and Custer counties in north central Oklahoma.

The 998-megawatt center, including 356 wind turbines, was developed by Invenergy in partnership with GE Renewable Energy. It is expected to generate 3.8 million megawatt-hours of power annually for AEP Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) and Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) customers in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Officials say they plan to crack down on people who obtained loans and other pandemic relief fraudulently.

They say they will investigate and prosecute fraud involving loans, loan guarantees, and other relief under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020, which included over $2 trillion in emergency financial assistance designed to provide immediate help for American businesses and individuals.
