Meet Cameron Pinkerton, one of our Associate Attorneys at Climb.

Cameron focuses on regulatory defense, cannabis business law, and civil litigation. He’s incredibly thorough, knows the regulatory world inside and out, and never shies away from a complicated case.

When he’s not at the office, he’s usually with his wife and son, watching the Thunder, or spending time outdoors.

Nearly two years into the SB 1939 transfer framework & we’re still seeing cannabis business transfers go sideways because the regulatory piece wasn’t handled correctly.

A signed purchase agreement ≠ an approved transfer.

Until the agencies approve the new ownership, the current ownership still has obligations, the existing licenses and registrations still matter, and handing over control too early can create very real problems for everyone involved.

And now DEA registration adds another layer to an already complicated process.

The takeaway: ask questions before you sign, pay, hand over inventory, or take control. Make sure your deal actually works under the regulatory framework, not just on paper.

These are expensive mistakes to unwind later.
