When one party refuses to produce documents during a divorce, the court has real tools to address it. A judge can exclude your evidence, hold you in contempt, or order you to pay the other side's attorney fees.

Non-compliance with court orders does not protect you. It almost always makes your position worse, especially when it comes to property division.

You cannot force someone to stay married to you in Texas. Once the process is moving, the realistic path forward is to prepare yourself financially and emotionally rather than delay.

When people do not produce required documents or life events cause missed hearings, cases drag on longer than necessary, which usually just increases costs and stress for everyone involved.

Mediation in a divorce means you and your spouse each have your attorney present, while a neutral mediator works between the two rooms to find a resolution both sides can live with.

It is not about winning. It is about reaching a middle ground that allows both of you to move forward.

An uncontested divorce means both parties have reached an agreement and the process is straightforward, often resolved in 60 to 90 days.

A contested divorce involves disputes over children or property, requires document exchange, may include mediation, and can involve multiple hearings before a judge makes the final call.

What you post on social media during a divorce can seriously hurt your case.

If you tell the court you do not own certain assets but your social media says otherwise, the judge will treat your testimony as dishonest, and your spouse may end up with a share of property you claimed you did not have.

Family court judges want to see parents who put their kids first. When a parent prioritizes personal plans, a new relationship, or recreational activities over a child's schedule and milestone events, judges take notice.

The most powerful thing you can do in a custody case is show, consistently, that your child's needs come before your own.
