Through the years I have built a reputation as a leader who crushes goals, adds value, and creates lasting relationships along the way. I have had the privilege of leading dynamic teams of amazing individuals and have seen them flourish through some of our nation’s most recent trying financial times. Through their success and dedication, our clients flourished as well. While I enjoyed my work, I eventually tired of making money for large corporations and decided it was time to help the individuals who really need it, and Lumsden Law was born. Walking away from hospitality was hard, but once I created my first estate plan I never looked back, realizing how my skills would translate to my clients’ success.

When we talk about caregivers, we usually picture someone caring for a parent, a spouse, or a child. But some of the most devoted caregivers we know are pet parents.

Adopting a pet takes a special kind of strength. We open our hearts and homes knowing that, in all likelihood, we will one day have to say goodbye. We do it anyway, because the years of unconditional love, wagging tails, and quiet companionship are worth every tear.

Caring for a pet means late night vet visits, daily medications, special diets, and gentle patience through the senior years. It means being their voice when they can’t speak for themselves.

And we can’t forget the veterinarians, vet techs, groomers, rescue volunteers, and shelter staff who show up every day with skill and compassion. They share our joy on the good days and hold our hands on the hardest ones. That takes real courage. 💙

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞?

Most Florida homeowners assume that if they own their home jointly, the survivor automatically inherits it.

In Florida, that’s not the default.
Under Fla. Stat. §689.15, the law presumes a tenancy in common — meaning a share can pass through probate — unless the deed expressly states the right of survivorship. One line decides it.
