Another Happy Member Story:

“December 26 at 9pm a few years ago, my friend and I found ourselves in handcuffs.

Let me explain: We were helping a woman we knew move from her apartment to a storage unit as she’d lost her lease and was being evicted. In the chaos of loading up, my own bag was lost. As I frantically looked through all the boxes, apparently a neighbor was watching from her window... then, as we headed down to the basement to get the washer and dryer, the neighbor called the police and said we were thieves stealing.

MEMBER STORY OF THE DAY:

"One of my children has an eating disorder.

After trying for years to help on our own, we decided to take a big step and send (them) to a facility for professional help. This was a really big deal, as the facility is many states away and the program could have lasted many months ... It was an emotional decision for us as parents and (my child). Financially, this was a huge investment as well, upwards of $40,000. But, we felt it was necessary.

The day came to travel and leave (my child) in the new temporary home, praying it would help. One week later, I got a call from the facility to come pick (my child) up, as they claimed they would not be able to help. Mind you, we had gone through SO MANY STEPS to admit my child, so I was shocked to get this call. I was furious, too, and very confused. My child was picked up but I was informed I'd still be financially responsible to pay for the entire program.

I called my provider law firm here in CA. I can't even remember my first call with the lawyers because I was so upset, but I know my provider firm had to contact the firm in GA, which is the state this facility is located, and there was a lot of back-and-forth to insure they had all the info.

I JUST heard back from the (provider law firm in that state) and the facility DROPPED EVERYTHING. I owe nothing more. I am so ecstatically happy to not have to deal with this financial burden.

Still have a goal to get the necessary help for (my child) but not having to worry about $40,000 is a huge relief."

“I wanted to share my experience with LegalShield as a Landlord. I recommend that all owners of rentals protect themselves and their assets through LegalShield for this reason. The tenants I had in a property caused a serious sewage backup under the house they were renting. It involved hazmat and DEQ. None of their belongings were damaged, but they threw their furniture out anyway and then went to a lawyer to sue me for damages of $24,000.00. I referred this immediately to the team at LegalShield. An attorney who was experienced in real estate rental matters reviewed the lease agreement and wrote one letter to that tenant’s lawyer. The tenants decided not to pursue their case. “We signed up for LegalShield early in our marriage. I was skeptical at first because the cost was so low — what could this possibly do for so little a month? Well, LegalShield has helped us in many situations! First, they prepared a complete Will for my husband and me (each) at no extra cost, which was great, since we’d been quoted over $1,000 by a local lawyer (each) for our Wills. They represented my husband in his car accident lawsuit, gave me legal advice when I was wrongfully fired from a job while on maternity leave with child #1, they wrote a letter to our harassing neighbor, and aided in several other smaller matters. Recently, while pregnant with child #2, I was in a wreck and needed a car rental for a month. The rental company had my husband buy insurance for the first 4 days until the other party's insurance took over all charges. After 4 days, the other party's insurance contacted us to confirm they took over all costs ... so, we felt all was good. At the end of the month, my husband turned in the rental and was billed $400 for the rental insurance! The company claimed it was our responsibility to bring the car in after those 4 days for an inspection and cancel the insurance then, but that was not discussed nor was it in the contract. We argued, they refused to budge. So we called our Provider Law Firm. The attorney advised us to dispute the charge with our bank, and when that didn’t work, he sent a 2-page letter outlining their legal errors and demanded our $400. Thank goodness they didn’t procrastinate on enrolling!
(I have a member who decided against the membership, and a year later one bad contract turned out to be a $10,000 mistake. She’s a member now. Unfortunately, that happens a lot.)

“Two weeks after I signed up for LegalShield, I had a massive pain in my stomach and went to the hospital. I was told I'd need surgery, and was approved by my insurance to stay for 3-nights at the hospital for post-surgery care. However, during the surgery, the doctor found my situation was more complicated than they thought and I ended up staying 10 days in the hospital instead. A few weeks after I got home, I received a bill from the hospital for $60,000.00! I called the hospital to inquire about the bill and was told I was only approved to stay 3 days - not 10 - and I would need to pay the $60,000.00! I didn't argue with the hospital ... I guess I was kind of in shock! I just hung up and called my Provider Law Firm. Two days later, I received a call from the hospital notifying me they'd heard from 'my attorney'. This time, they spoke to me with respect, called me 'Mr.' and THANKED me for using their hospital to perform the surgery, blah blah blah and ... all I really paid attention to is when they said the $60,000 bill was cleared, just like that!! House sale:

“I was in the process of selling my home in Michigan and I was already living in Texas. About one week before the sale was to be completed, the buyer QUIT her job! Quicken Loans found out that she had no job and refused to give her a mortgage.

The buyer demanded that I give her the $5,000.00 deposit back and suggested we would find another way for her to buy my house. Meanwhile, she left me sitting with an empty house and she breached our contract, so I refused to pay her back the deposit.

So, she sued me. 😲

I called my provider law firm in Texas, they connected me to the law firm in Michigan, and the MI law firm sent an attorney to court for me.

We won the case! 😁
