I had an 11-hour court day last week. Preparing for court and being there for my client took time away from these two sweet faces, my 4 and 1 year old little boys. That is the profession I have been called to do. The night before, I found that before he went to sleep, Hugh had drawn a rainbow for me and hid it in my briefcase which was on the kitchen counter. I thanked him for it the next morning as I was suiting up, and he said he wanted me to have the rainbow while I was helping my client in court; that he wanted to help her too. Showing our kids the importance of helping people is something Paul and I hold in our core. Merry Christmas from my family to you and yours.

Gratitude! That is how to describe the feeling of another year being nominated and selected by my peers as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (under 40) in the Mid-South for Litigation. Ashley Gunn, Esq. was sworn in this week as the judge pro tempore for the City of Ocean Springs, MS. As judge, Ashley will provide support as needed for weekly city court, special hearings, and issuance of criminal warrants. She will continue her full-time law practice while serving the community in this important judicial role.

Ashley Gunn Attorney at Law is an established solo practice law firm in Ocean Springs, MS, specializing in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Employment Law, Commercial Litigation, Corporate Law, and select Chancery practice (Divorces, Adoptions, Wills and Estates, Guardianships, Conservatorships, and chancery litigation).

The ideal candidate is professional and proactive and has experience drafting pleadings and discovery, preparing exhibits and corresponding with experts and other witnesses, requesting and summarizing medical records, hearing/trial preparation, electronic court filing, calendaring, client and court communications, and assistance with file billing. Proficiency in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as excellent organizational and problem-solving skills are also necessary.

The ideal position is full-time, but part-time or some remote work will be considered for the right candidate. The salary will be established based on full- or part-time and level of experience, consistent with the local market, and bonuses are considered. The firm has a 401k with employer match.
