๐Ÿ“ข Know Your Rights: ADA Protections for Mental Health ๐Ÿ“ข
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health conditions can affect every part of a personโ€™s life, including work. But many people do not realize that mental health conditions may be protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The ADA prohibits disability discrimination in the workplace, including discrimination related to qualifying mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more.

Here are a few important protections employees should know:

โœ… Right to Reasonable Accommodations โ€“ Employees may be entitled to workplace adjustments or support related to their mental health condition
โœ… Protection from Discrimination โ€“ Employers cannot legally discriminate against someone because of a qualifying mental health disability
โœ… Right to Medical Privacy โ€“ Mental health information must generally remain confidential
โœ… Protection from Retaliation โ€“ Employees cannot legally be punished for requesting accommodations or asserting their rights

๐Ÿ’ก Mental health matters and seeking support should never jeopardize someoneโ€™s dignity, safety, or livelihood.

At Liberty Law Inc., we believe awareness, compassion, and accountability are essential to creating healthier and more supportive workplaces.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Memorial Day ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

Today, we honor and remember the service members who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on sacrifice, courage, and the enduring impact of those who served to protect the freedoms and rights so many rely on every day.

At Liberty Law Inc., we recognize that remembrance is not only about honoring the past, but also about carrying forward the values of dignity, service, and responsibility within our communities.

We extend our gratitude to the families, loved ones, and communities who continue to carry the legacy of those we remember today.

โค๏ธ We remember and honor their sacrifice.

๐ŸŒธ Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month ๐ŸŒธ

This month, we celebrate the histories, cultures, contributions, and resilience of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

AANHPI Heritage Month is also a reminder of the importance of visibility, representation, and continued advocacy against discrimination, violence, and systemic inequities that continue to impact many communities today.

At Liberty Law, we believe justice must be inclusive, culturally informed, and grounded in dignity and respect for every individual and community.

We honor the leaders, advocates, survivors, organizers, and families whose voices and experiences continue to shape a more just and compassionate future.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Starting May 19, 2026, the TAKE IT DOWN Act is officially in effect.

This new federal law requires covered websites, apps, and online platforms to remove nonconsensual intimate images, including AI-generated โ€œdeepfakeโ€ content ,within 48 hours after receiving a valid report. Platforms are also required to make reasonable efforts to remove duplicate copies.

For survivors of image-based sexual abuse, this marks an important step toward faster protection, stronger accountability, and greater recognition of the harm caused by nonconsensual image sharing online.

Too often, survivors have been forced to navigate confusing reporting systems while harmful content continued to spread. The TAKE IT DOWN Act shifts more responsibility onto the platforms that host and facilitate this abuse.

At Liberty Law, we believe survivors deserve timely responses, meaningful protections, and systems that prioritize safety over clicks, profit, or virality.

This law is progress, but the work is not over. Prevention, accountability, survivor support, and ethical technology practices remain essential.

๐Ÿ’ก Survivors can report noncompliant platforms at TAKEITDOWN.ftc.gov.

๐Ÿ“š Book Review Spotlight: Resist by Rita Omokha ๐Ÿ“š

In Resist, Rita Omokha chronicles a century of youth-led Black activism and the generations of organizers who helped shape the fight for justice in America.

From the civil rights movement to present-day activism, the book highlights a powerful truth: many of the rights we recognize today began as demands from communities that were ignored, marginalized, or criminalized.

Resist examines how young activists challenged segregation, police violence, educational inequity, and voter suppression, often at great personal risk. It also explores the complicated role of law as both a tool for justice and a mechanism used to suppress dissent.

At Liberty Law, we recognize that meaningful legal change rarely happens in isolation. It is often driven by survivors, advocates, organizers, and communities willing to speak out against injustice.

Resist is a reminder that justice is not passive. It is built collectively, sustained across generations, and shaped by those courageous enough to demand accountability.

๐Ÿ” Myth Busting: Mental Health Awareness Month ๐Ÿ”
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health is often surrounded by stigma, misinformation, and harmful assumptions that prevent people from seeking support. Letโ€™s challenge some common myths.

๐Ÿšซ Myth: โ€œMental health struggles are a sign of weakness.โ€
โœ… Fact: Mental health conditions can affect anyone. Seeking support is a sign of self-awareness and strength, not failure.

๐Ÿšซ Myth: โ€œPeople should just โ€˜get over it.โ€™โ€
โœ… Fact: Healing is not something people can simply force or rush. Mental health challenges are real, complex, and deserving of care and support.

๐Ÿšซ Myth: โ€œIf someone looks fine, they must be okay.โ€
โœ… Fact: Many people silently struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, or burnout while appearing functional on the outside.

Mental health awareness means listening without judgment, reducing stigma, and creating environments where people feel safe asking for help.

At Liberty Law, we believe compassion, accountability, and trauma-informed support matter, both inside and outside the legal process.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ โ€œUber is so hell-bent on protecting its profits that it is trying to amend the California constitution to give itself a free pass.โ€ โ€” Micha Star Liberty

Micha Star Liberty recently spoke out regarding a proposed California ballot measure backed by Uber that critics say could limit accountability in serious motor vehicle injury cases.

Supporters claim the measure would help accident victims keep more of their recovery. But consumer advocates and legal experts have raised concerns that it could make it harder for injured individuals to obtain legal representation and hold powerful corporations accountable.

At Liberty Law, we believe access to justice matters, especially when individuals are facing life-altering injuries and complex legal systems.

When corporations push for changes that may reduce accountability, itโ€™s important to ask:

Who truly benefits?

Justice should not depend on whether a case is profitable enough to pursue. And constitutional protections should not be weakened for corporate convenience.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Studio 17 Live: Law Day โ€” Understanding Your Rights and the Rule of Law
Featuring Micha Star Liberty

In recognition of Law Day, Micha Star Liberty joined Studio 17 to discuss why understanding your rights, and the rule of law, matters in everyday life.

Micha shared that the law is not just something distant or abstract. It shapes how we live, work, and protect ourselves and our families. From workplace protections to civil rights, many of the freedoms we rely on every day depend on laws being applied fairly and consistently.

At Liberty Law, we often speak with individuals who are unsure whether their rights have been violated. That uncertainty is common and itโ€™s exactly why legal guidance matters.

Understanding your rights is empowering. Acting early can make all the difference.

Law Day is a reminder that the legal system exists to protect everyone, but access to that protection starts with awareness and action.

๐Ÿ’ฌ What does real mental health support actually look like? ๐Ÿ’ฌ
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month

May is a time to raise awareness, but also to reflect on responsibility.

Mental health struggles are often invisible. They show up quietly, in burnout, anxiety, trauma, and the lasting impact of experiences that were never fully addressed.

๐Ÿง  What does real support look like at home, in workplaces, in schools, and within our institutions?

At Liberty Law, we believe awareness is only the beginning. Supporting mental health means creating environments where people feel safe to speak, where harm is taken seriously, and where accountability and care go hand in hand.

Mental health is not separate from justice. It is deeply connected to how people are treated, protected, and supported.

Every person deserves to be heard. Every experience deserves to be taken seriously.
