Groundbreaking survey!! What SpEducational found:

--Only 1 in 4 families receives all needed information before IEP meetings.
--Spanish speakers were 3 times more likely not to receive timely information regarding their child’s IEP.
--30% of students wait over a year for their disability to be recognized.
--68% of families say advocacy has contributed to anxiety or depression.
--39% of parents have experienced employment disruptions as a result of their advocacy.
--Nearly 300 families have sought outside support to fill gaps the system should be filling — and 80% say doing so has burdened their time or finances.
--Only 7% of families received any district communication about how federal policy changes affect their child's services.
--91% of families stated that they would like to receive updates about federal policy changes.

The disparities are particularly pronounced for Spanish-speaking families and families from low-income households, who face additional structural barriers at nearly every stage of the special education process.

Securing an Individualized Education Plan and ensuring it is enforced remain an ongoing challenge for families.

Enough is enough! "...first grader Cora Realmuto had five different teachers in the span of about 12 months, including one substitute teacher for three months who didn’t have special education credentials. Pajaro Valley Unified School District reached a settlement with the family of a first-grade special education student after acknowledging it failed to meet legal requirements outlined in the child’s education plan. The agreement includes compensatory services such as summer camp, behavioral suppor...

“‘He’s doing great.’
But he still can’t talk, can’t write his name, and melts down daily. The school is constantly calling me to pick him up..."

Sound familiar?”
We heard this again and again at our Las Vegas IEP workshop this weekend.

Parents are being told everything is “fine”—
but their child is still struggling.

So we did something different.

We showed families how to responsibly use AI as a personal IEP assistant to:

prepare for meetings
safeguard student privacy
understand confusing assessments
ask better questions
follow up in writing

Because when federal enforcement is weakening,
👉 informed parents matter more than ever.

One parent said:
“Thank you so much for this timely presentation--I learned so much!”

That’s the goal.

If you’re a Nevada parent of a child with disabilities and your school district or charter school refuses to address your concerns--
we may be able to help.

New study shows that can have long-term positive impact-- start early!!

"From a policy perspective, the results suggest the importance of accurate and timely identification, expanded access to high-quality services, and more consistent service delivery so that qualifying students can benefit from these supports."

Approximately 7.5 million U.S. students receive special education services in public schools—more than one in seven pupils nationwide.
