As a mother, I share a common experience with many of you who balance this role alongside your professional responsibilities, understanding the challenges of being fully present in both personal and professional settings. It requires immense effort to excel in managing household responsibilities while meeting work demands. This delicate balance is often underappreciated. The intricacies of motherhood and career demands are not always easily navigable.

However, I firmly believe that my experience in motherhood has enhanced my leadership skills, allowing me to develop greater patience, effectively manage multiple priorities, and foster environments where professionals can thrive authentically.

To all parents and caregivers juggling dual responsibilities daily, I acknowledge your tireless efforts this week. Your resilience is a cornerstone of your professional success, not a secondary aspect.

Happy Mother's Day. 💐

What an empowering conference hosted by the California Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) of Black Lawyers (CABL). This year, the theme was “Reclaiming Our Shine,” a powerful reminder that we are reclaiming our rightful place as a visible, connected force for equity on the bench and a powerhouse of advocacy for the communities we serve.

I had the privilege of speaking on a panel with trailblazing attorneys Angela J. Reddock-Wright, Esq., AWI-CH and J. Bernard Alexander, III where we shared our experiences as trial attorneys and the impact of resolving challenging cases through mediation. Our topic was “The Evolving Workplace: DEI, Remote Work, and the New Face of Employment Law,” a testament to our unwavering commitment to creating a more just and equitable society.

Attending Chase Business - The Experience San Francisco 2026 was truly energizing. The venue's seamless indoor-outdoor integration elevated the experience, creating a dynamic space for connection and growth. I was particularly inspired by the featured businesses, the opportunity to forge new connections, and the insightful perspectives shared by Ned Segal, Chief of Housing and Economic Development and former Twitter CFO. I left feeling invigorated and motivated to support and empower others as an employment attorney representing employees, mangers, and executives throughout California.

Recently, Benton Employment Law, PC had the opportunity to speak with UC Berkeley students at the “Workers’ Rights Workshop.” The ASUC Student Legal Clinic is an important program that offers free legal research services and community legal education.

The future is bright. It was wonderful speaking with the next generation of attorneys about a topic that I love, employment law.

$7.6 MILLION SETTLEMENT

I regularly represent survivors of sexual harassment and assault against high-profile employers, tech companies, and even celebrities. I remain committed to the “ ” movement (formerly on the employer-side), successfully settling seven and eight-figure sexual harassment cases, including a systemic case involving more than 20 survivors.

My motivation for this work stems from a deep care for those affected, and my personal experiences allow me to empathize with survivors. I approach these cases with compassion, ensuring that the survivor’s story is told with the dignity and respect that they were denied by their abuser(s).

To the 9-year-old girl within me who aspired to be a litigator and advocate for the voiceless: every time justice is secured for a client, I feel a sense of healing and growth towards a greater purpose.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual harassment or abuse at work, during a social gathering, or while in a relationship with a manager or executive Benton Employment Law, PC is here to help. You can reach us at (510) 650–0250. Our dedicated team is ready to support you.

In October 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 250 (The Justice for Survivors of Sexual Assault Act), a beacon of hope for survivors of sexual harassment and assault in the workplace. This law reopens the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits, providing a new two-year window (January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027) for survivors to bring claims that would otherwise be considered time-barred.

I watched the America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) documentary and was deeply inspired by Shandi Sullivan’s resilience. Assuming she did not already sign a settlement agreement with the producers (her former employer), she is likely the type of individual that AB 250 is designed to empower. The law specifically applies to cases involving private individuals, organizations, or institutions (e.g., employers, religious organizations, schools) that enabled or covered up sexual harassment and assault. With AB 250, survivors have another chance to receive justice and find their voice.
