Kazan Law was proud to sponsor La Raza Centro Legal’s 53rd Annual Gala, “Pillars of Democracy” on October 9, 2026 at the Green Room of San Francisco’s War Memorial. Accepting the “Heart of LRCL” Award on behalf of Amanda Alvarado Ford was Francis Fernandez of the Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation and former partner of Kazan Law.

Mr. Fernandez was among the founding members of La Raza Centro Legal in 1973 and was instrumental in developing its mission to assist immigrants facing deportation and seeking asylum throughout the Bay Area.

Kazan Law further congratulates Hillary Ronen, La Raza’s new Executive Director, to oversee its five programs, including its partnership with Bay Area Habeas Network to handle same-day habeas petitions and pursue strategic litigation to change an unjust system.

The Pillars of Democracy awards included honoring six of the over 100 judges at the San Francisco Immigration Court that were fired in 2025 by the current administration, which essentially shuttered the Immigration Court. These judges refused to stay silent and spoke out boldly against this attack on due process and the rule of law.

Kazan Law stands by these Pillars of Democracy and its continued struggle to provide justice for all.

Kazan Law was honored to participate in the annual Lend A Hand Foundation Stay in School Packing Event in Oakland, CA, where volunteers assembled backpacks filled with school supplies. This flagship back-to-school drive will distribute 15,000 to 25,000 educational supply kits to underserved children and youth throughout Alameda County.

The Kazan McClain Partners’ Foundation is proud to support organizations that help young people broaden their horizons and reach their full potential.

One of those organizations is the Pacific Bridge Club, which recently took students from Castlemont High School on a transformative educational journey to Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Through cultural immersion, volunteer service, and hands-on learning, these students gained experiences and perspectives that will stay with them for years to come.
