ATTORNEY SPOTLIGHT - ROBERT HANEY

Bob Haney understands that if you want to find the right answers, you need to ask the right questions. That is how the Prospect Heights native and experienced transactional and regulatory attorney approaches the array of complex matters he handles for his individual and corporate clients. By taking the time to fully understand each client’s unique concerns, circumstances, and objectives, Bob develops and implements thoughtful approaches and provides clear, actionable guidance that they can rely on with confidence.

With a diverse background that includes working for and with regulatory agencies and facilitating the development of long-term care facilities, Bob advises clients in a wide range of business transactions, commercial real estate, estate planning, and state regulatory matters.

Prior to joining the firm in 2017, Bob served as associate general counsel of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), where he worked on behalf of the Department to ensure compliance with both state and federal laws, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation Z, the Truth in Lending Act, RESPA, and Anti-Money Laundering regulations. He was also involved in guiding both the Department and the State of Illinois’ policy regulating virtual currency and blockchain technology.

As an attorney focused on problem-solving and responsive client service, Bob appreciates how GHU and his like-minded colleagues at the firm facilitate and support his efforts. He is a graduate of Illinois State University, where he received a degree in Finance, and earned his law degree from DePaul University College of Law. A passionate sports fan, Bob lives in Elmhurst with his wife and two young children, and when not serving his clients or spending time with his family, enjoys reading and exercising.

Employers Can Require COVID-19 Vaccinations For Most Employees

As this relentlessly awful year mercifully draws to a close, a light at the end of our pandemic tunnel is rapidly approaching. COVID-19 vaccines are poised for approval, and it is expected that distribution will begin in earnest shortly. But no matter how much and how confidently the FDA and other health experts proclaim these vaccines to be safe and effective, there are large numbers of Americans who say they won’t get the shot when it becomes available. The most recent Gallup poll found that only 63 percent of Americans say they are willing to be inoculated against the disease.

ATTORNEY SPOTLIGHT - JORDAN UDITSKY

There is a running joke that many lawyers went to law school because they were told that there would be no math. Jordan Uditsky was one of those lawyers, but for reasons having nothing to do with a lack of aptitude for numbers. Quite the contrary; Jordan was a math major at the University of Iowa and worked as an actuary at Allstate before going to law school. But you can’t build a relationship with an equation, you don’t engage in a meaningful conversation with a calculator, and you won’t change someone’s life or help them reach their goals through trigonometry.

You can do all of those things by helping people build and grow a company or practice, facilitating a lucrative transaction, or counseling clients as they navigate business, financial, or personal challenges. That is why Jordan became a lawyer. He thrives on the human aspect of practicing law and leverages his experience as a business owner and well-honed problem-solving skills to provide his individual and corporate clients with representation that is as uniquely personal as it is professional.

Jordan’s perspective is informed by the insights and perspective he gained as president and general counsel of a multimillion-dollar manufacturing company. He understands the combination of day-to-day and long-term concerns that business owners face and appreciates that his value as an attorney is measured not just in terms of getting deals done but doing so in a way that never loses sight of the bottom line. It’s why he and his partners left large law firms to form a smaller, more nimble and efficient practice and why he never lets ancillary issues distract him from the task of getting the job done.

While Jordan handles a wide array of matters, including traditional small to mid-market mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate transactions, complex financing structures, business litigation, construction, and estate planning, he has a special connection to serving the needs of dentists and dental practices.

His dad was an accomplished dentist and turned to Jordan to help him sell his practice as he neared retirement. Soon enough, dentists throughout Chicagoland were calling Jordan for his counsel, and he has since earned a reputation as a trusted advisor on almost any business and legal matter that dental practitioners contend with.

As an entrepreneur at heart, Jordan often works on start-up endeavors when not serving his clients. If you are looking for Jordan when he’s not in the office, there is a good chance you will find him on a golf course, spending time with his three children, or cooking and diving into Chicago’s food scene.

Amendments to PPP Loan Forgiveness

Many businesses that received Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”) funds are coming to the end of their respective eight-week time periods (“Expenditure Period”) during which they must use the PPP funds to obtain forgiveness under the CARES Act. Unfortunately, many of these businesses have found it difficult to reopen and remain fully operational throughout the Expenditure Period and consequently to meet spending thresholds necessary to obtain full forgiveness. Luckily for these businesses, some much needed flexibility is on its way.
