As a symbol of peace, hope and love, Dr. King led a movement that enacted change for all Americans.
Through his leadership and sacrifices, and those of other American heroes, our nation took monumental steps toward justice and we have achieved substantial progress from his time through today.

Yet, we have work to do! The great American experiment is a work in progress. Nationally, this day has become recognized as not only a holiday, but a national day of service.

A day of service to our counties, cities, schools and all of our communities – a day of service to our neighbors! I’m here to challenge everyone – myself included and first.

That while we have made great progress as an American society, the march toward equity, diversity, and inclusion is a marathon and not a sprint. It must always be our mission to serve – on this day in Dr. King’s memory, and on everyday.

As a man who was raised in our community, faced adversities throughout my childhood, yet found inspiration and leadership from sources all around me, I am invigorated daily by the young people in our community and the next generation of leaders who have engaged in this important work.

Together, we must keep striving to live up to the legacy of Dr. King and keep moving toward health, toward equity, and toward a better tomorrow.

Thumbs up👍🏻to Southwest Airlines for the direct, efficient response to the holiday schedule 'meltdown.' My flight was delayed by 4.5 hours, certainly nothing drastic, but I've received apologies from the pilot to the president, and action ..... $300 value in rewards points, and $293 reimbursement in 4 days for my hotel and other expenses caused by the delay. They have done the right thing.✨️🎉 I'm impressed and they have me as a customer.
