Attorney Marie Sarantakis has been appointed to the Illinois State Bar Association's Food Law Section Council.

Food law touches nearly every aspect of our daily lives—from the food we eat and how it is produced, to the regulations that govern safety, innovation, and distribution. As technology continues to transform the agricultural and food industries, the legal issues surrounding food production, labeling, regulation, and consumer protection are becoming increasingly important.

The Food Law Section Council works to educate attorneys on emerging developments in food law and policy, monitor legislation and regulatory changes, provide analysis of local, national, and global food issues, and support Illinois businesses, farmers, producers, and industry leaders. The Council also studies evolving areas such as urban farming, craft brewing, alternative proteins, and new food production technologies.

Attorney Marie Sarantakis has been appointed to serve her third term on the Illinois State Bar Association Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission Standing Committee. The first meeting was held last week at the ISBA Annual Meeting.

While in St. Louis for the Illinois State Bar Association Annual Meeting, Attorney Marie Sarantakis squeezed in some sightseeing between meetings—including a visit to a former jailhouse that's been transformed into a coffee shop. Proof that even the most unexpected places can have a second chapter.

Attorney Marie Sarantakis was pleased to attend the Illinois State Bar Association Annual Meeting and join colleagues from across the state in celebrating the installation of ISBA President Perry Browder.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with members of the judiciary - including the Illinois Supreme Court, along with fellow attorneys to participate in important discussions about the future of the profession.

Congratulations to President Browder, and thank you for your leadership and commitment to the Illinois legal profession!
