Notre Dame Journal of International & Comparative Law With our first issue published in 2011, the Notre Dame Journal of International & Comparative Law is entering its tenth year in publication.

The establishment of our Journal coincided with rapid evolution in the burgeoning fields of international and comparative law. Due to its global perspective, the Journal attracts and publishes contributions from distinguished scholars and practitioners throughout the world on a wide variety of issues. Topics featured at our annual symposia have ranged from “International Law and Economics” to “Ter

rorism After Bin Laden” to “Asylum and Refugee Law.”

The Journal provides its members an opportunity to sharpen their analytical skills and engage in scholarly discourse while contributing to the proud Notre Dame tradition of promoting justice and human rights worldwide. We're thrilled to announce the release of Volume 14, Issue 3—a special edition dedicated to the Notre Dame London Law Programme.

This issue features four compelling articles from Notre Dame London Law Programme faculty that tackle key legal challenges:
⏺ Katherine Reece Thomas explores the need for binding international regulations to protect the environment in the context of deep seabed mining
⏺ Mark Hill KC provides an insightful look at religious courts in Africa, examining their varying levels of state recognition and integration

Thank you to the Notre Dame Law School Religious Liberty Initiative for co-sponsoring our symposium on Religious Speech in the Context of Anti-Blasphemy and Anti-Proselytism Laws!

Anti-blasphemy and anti-proselytism laws can stifle the free expression of religion. Enforcing these laws often violates Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Our symposium sought to analyze these laws and their implications on an international scale to demonstrate how they interact with protecting individuals’ rights and freedoms.

Speakers included Dr. Thiago Alves Pinto (University of Oxford), Arafat Mazhar (Engage Pakistan), Knox Thames (Pepperdine Law School & United States Institute of Peace), Rev’d Dr. Helen Hall (Nottingham Law School), and Stephanie Barclay (Notre Dame Law School).

On April 22, the Notre Dame Journal of International & Comparative Law presented the 2024 symposium on "Religious Speech in the Context of Anti-Blasphemy and Anti-Proselytism Laws," co-sponsored by Notre Dame Law School's Religious Liberty Initiative.
