At long last…a hotly contested complaint for custody filed in 2024 has come to an end with closing arguments today. The wheels of justice sure do move slowly in Suffolk County Probate & Family Court. But it’s done. Just in time for the weekend.

New Fair Hearing decisions have been rolling in every couple of weeks lately and, thankfully, they have all been with recommendations of reversing DCF's decision to support allegations of abuse and/or neglect. And it was made clear at the end of my last hearing that the Department didn't have sufficient evidence (something that rarely happens--it usually takes months to find out). A number of these cases involved hotly contested custody battles in probate court and others were medical cases alleging physical abuse. All of these cases were challenging and caused my clients great distress. I am so happy for them and thank them for having confidence in handling their respective cases. As always, it is a pleasure to work with my clients toward achieving these favorable outcomes. I see my clients as an invaluable part of the process and work closely with them in preparing for these hearings.

This year has started off fast and furious, with numerous trials, evidentiary hearings and fair hearings. I don’t think I have ever been busier. But things are going to settle down just a little bit so I can recharge. Still having fun helping people out though. That’s the important thing.

It has been a very busy and personslly gratifying year at Ianiri Law LLC. And thankfully, December brought several long-awaited fair hearing victories and positive developments in some of my more vexing child custody and child protection cases in Probate and Juvenile Court respectively. For a number of my clients 2025 was an extremely difficult year, emotionally and otherwise. I know because I have been there every step of the way with you. I look forward to continuing our journey together into 2026. I truly hope I was able to make this year a little more tolerable for my clients and look forward to finishing the work we started this year in 2026. Wishing all a Happy New Year!

Ianiri Law LLC has found another agency to protect parents and caregivers from--Disabled Persons Protection Commission, or DPPC. It's kind of like DCF for disabled/incapacitated adults. Or should I say, DPPC found me via a client who now has to defend herself against this little known but very powerful state agency.
