East Coast Kombucha Company, winner of the Innovations Initiative $20,000 Grand Prize, was featured in the Hartford Business Journal! 📰🍵
East Coast Kombucha Company started in 2019 when CEO and co-founder Steve Gaskin designed and built a brewery with no prior experience. He opened it just two months before the pandemic. Today the company brews certified organic kombucha in a converted textile factory on Chestnut Street in South Norwalk, and you can find it in 500+ stores across 10 states, including Stew Leonard’s.
The grant will fund a new shrink tunnel machine that replaces hand-fitting plastic carriers onto cans.
“This is going to help us to be more efficient, save money in production and, also importantly, just use less plastic.” – Steve Gaskin
Next up for East Coast Kombucha: two or three new states and 5,000 more gallons of production. Congratulations to the whole team! 👏
