Exploratory Employment Search — Administrative Office Professional
Kaplan Law Offices, P.C. is conducting an exploratory search for an additional full-time administrative professional. Although the firm is not necessarily committed to immediately filling the position, we are interested in determining whether the right candidate may be available.
We are seeking an intelligent, dependable, highly organized individual who satisfies the following requirements:
1. Attention to Detail, Intellectual Aptitude, and Accountability:
This position requires the ability to consistently manage multiple assignments and competing priorities in a fast-paced professional environment where accuracy is essential and there is little room for error. The successful candidate must learn quickly, retain training and instructions, exercise sound judgment, and possess the intellectual agility to apply logic and independent thinking to daily responsibilities.
Kaplan Law Offices, P.C. is both a professional practice and a business. We have the privilege of earning a living while simultaneously helping clients through serious and often life-altering circumstances. The successful candidate must understand that errors, omissions, missed deadlines, and other oversights can cause financial loss, compromise a client’s interests, and expose the firm to significant liability. These responsibilities must be approached with the utmost care and seriousness.
Candidates with little or no experience working in a demanding, high-functioning professional environment should not apply. The firm intends to make a substantial, long-term investment in the person selected for this position, both as an individual and as an employee. We expect an equally serious and long-term commitment in return.
2. Language Proficiency:
Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian is required. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage.
3. Schedule and Transportation Requirements:
This is a full-time position requiring consistent availability Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. until at least 5:00 p.m. Occasional weekend work will also be required.
The position involves limited travel throughout Chicago’s northern and western suburbs. Accordingly, the candidate must have reliable personal transportation. Authorized travel expenses will be reimbursed.
These scheduling and transportation obligations are firm requirements—not suggestions. Candidates who cannot reliably commit to them because of personal, family, or other obligations should not apply.
4. Client Relations and Professionalism:
The successful candidate must be professional, presentable, articulate, personable, and comfortable communicating directly with clients. Our firm represents real people confronting real injuries and difficult personal circumstances. They frequently come to us at vulnerable moments and deserve patience, empathy, reassurance, and clear communication.
This position is best suited for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and is confident handling frequent client questions and sensitive conversations. Candidates who are uncomfortable communicating directly with clients or who cannot do so effectively, patiently, compassionately, or do not have the temperament of doing so, should not apply.
5. Résumé and Professional References:
A current résumé and professional references are mandatory. Applications submitted without both will not be considered.
6. Employment Authorization and Long-Term Availability:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to maintain valid employment authorization throughout their employment. Kaplan Law Offices, P.C. is not able to sponsor employment-based immigration status.
Properly training a new employee requires a substantial investment of six to twelve months. Accordingly, the firm is seeking a candidate who is available for stable, long-term employment. Candidates whose current employment authorization will expire in the foreseeable future, and who do not independently expect to maintain valid authorization to work in the United States, should not apply.
6. Application Instructions:
Please submit your résumé and professional references by email to [email protected].
Do not telephone the office regarding this position or to request an interview. Candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted directly. The ability to read, understand, and follow instructions is an essential qualification for this position. Failure to follow these application instructions will result in disqualification.
