While Geeta Gupta-Fisker is not wrong that “ownership is the only way to influence decisions, the right decisions,” there are certain legal roadblocks to a 100% influence which makes ownership not so exclusive anymore. Guess which one is that? Legal! Through the Commerce Clause, the government has a lot to say what you can and cannot do. A small and startling example is growing crop of any kind even for personal use which is not for sale in any way. Are you surprised that this small action is heavily regulated? In Wickard vs Filburn, The USSC held that “even if appellee's activity be local and though it may not be regarded as commerce, it may still, whatever its nature, be reached by Congress if it exerts a substantial economic effect on interstate commerce and this irrespective of whether such effect is what might at some earlier time have been defined as 'direct' or 'indirect.”
