🚨 IMPORTANT USCIS UPDATE: Form I-864 Sponsors & Credit Checks 🚨
If you’re sponsoring a family member or employee for a U.S. Green Card, there’s a critical change you need to know about. USCIS has updated Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support), and the new edition strictly requires credit authorization from sponsors.
Here is what you need to keep in mind:
🔍 What’s New?
When you sign the updated Form I-864, you directly authorize USCIS to pull your consumer credit reports and credit scores.
💡 Key Things to Know:
• No Minimum Score: USCIS hasn't set a minimum credit score requirement. Having debt or bad credit doesn't lead to an automatic denial.
• Income Still Matters Most: Meeting the Federal Poverty Guidelines remains the primary qualification factor.
• Credit Freezes: If you have a freeze on your credit reports, you must temporarily lift it so USCIS can complete their check without causing delays.
• Strict Form Cutoff: Applications must use the new form edition. Old editions will be rejected immediately!
Don't let missing details or outdated forms delay your loved one’s green card process.
