The Risks of Using AI to Create Your Estate Plan

One of the greatest risks of AI-generated estate planning documents is that they often look and “sound” professional, but the danger is not that a document appears sloppy or incomplete—the danger is that it may contain mistakes that a nonlawyer would not recognize.

AI tools may misapply state law; overlook ex*****on requirements (which are very specific rules or procedures you must follow to ensure that your documents are legally enforceable); fail to account for blended families; miss or mishandle creditor or tax issues; or generate language that sounds good but does not actually accomplish what you intended. In some cases, AI may even generate legal concepts, rules, or laws that do not exist.

A good estate plan is not only about what is written on paper; it is about how that plan will operate when applied to a real family with real relationships, history, emotions, and conflict. This is where the guidance of an experienced estate planning attorney is essential. An attorney does more than prepare documents.

Our FREE Educational Events at The Well in Norman are the perfect opportunity to do all of these things, in a group pressure-free setting. This month, we are scheduled for September 9th and 17th.
