When making a left turn, get as close to the line as you can, keep your wheels straight until you are able to turn. You don't want an inattentive driver pushing you into oncoming cars.

And for every turn, turn into the closest lane to you. If you have to get to another lane, put your signal on and move over when you can.

Do you turn square corners with your car? Particularly for left turns, go straight to the center of the intersection and then, when safe, turn sharp left into the closest lane. Let's not meet by accident.

It is motorcycle season. Bikers: make sure you have personal injury insurance; I know it's expensive, but it is optional for motorcycles, standard for cars.

Auto and truck drivers: keep your eyes open for bikers.

Before matrimonial mediation, consult a divorce lawyer to learn your rights, your options, and details on child support, spousal support, and especially equitable distribution. I cannot tell you how many people came to see me, too late, after waiving their rights they just were never advised of. The best matrimonial mediators, like Jeffrey Cohen,
Esquire, require that each party have their own attorney, and each party makes full financial disclosure.

Sadly the unemployment system is stacked against the unemployed: the employee must find an attorney willing to risk his or her time, who only gets a fee award if the employee wins, and THEN the fee is less than half of most ordinary hourly rates. Of course the employer can appeal without any real basis and without any risk. By the time the Board determines the fee, the unemployed person is probably too deep in debt to pay the fee. EMPLOYERS should have to pay the attorneys' fees if they are unsuccessful.

Seventy seven people have visited this web site recently. Thank you. Practice is primarily as a labor arbitrator. I continue to officiate at weddings, remain available for friends and others in need in my part-time practice, and can always recommend three attorneys in whom I have confidence if it is a matter that I prefer not to handle or for which I do not have sufficient expertise.
