Caldwell County Volunteers gathered today to hear about the awesome work that Robin's Nest Child Advocacy Center provides for the children in Caldwell County. We send a huge THANK YOU to Director Shellie Bowlin and her staff for providing our volunteers an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and tour the facility.

Today is National Dog Day! To a child, a dog can be a best friend and a constant playmate. To a child in crisis, a dog is much more...a source of emotional safety, unconditional love and stability. Entering foster care means children lose their home, school, routine, and their pets. Being a GAL means advocating for a permanent safe home, but also any reasonable requests throughout the journey that might help the child through these life changes and times of uncertainty.

Our GAL program has advocated for a child's dog to be included in their court ordered visits and the system made it happen!! If you are ready to be the Voice of a child and make a difference in their foster journey, apply today at www.volunteerforgal.org.

YAY for permanence! We are grateful for these 3 Burke county volunteers. Megan Pankau for her advocacy over the past 2 and a half years for assisting her child clients reach permanency via adoption; Linda Wharton-Duffy for the past 14 months until her child client aged out of care; Connie Bodenheimer for her advocacy over 4 years assisting her child clients reach permanency via adoption. We appreciate you all so very much!

We loved spending time at today’s event with Newton-Conover Schools! We managed to grab a photo with some of our very own GAL volunteers who also work in the school system.
Not only are they incredible advocates for children in our community, but they give their absolute all to their students as educators. We truly value our wonderful partnership with Newton-Conover City Schools. Wishing all the amazing faculty and staff a great school year ahead!

Please help give a shout out to Burke volunteers Gennifer Hogan and Ashly Benton! Gennifer has advocated for her child client for one year, and Ashly for 10 months. In both of these cases, reunification was achieved! Thank you Gennifer and Ashly, for your advocacy!
