There is a $10,000 GRANT (you don't pay it back) for "Homes for Heros" buyers: Military, Police, Firefighters, Nurses, Teachers, etc.
Here are the details:

To qualify, borrowers must complete the Community Heroes Certification (attached) and be currently employed in — or retired from with retirement income — one of the following fields:
Public or private education (including post-graduate institutions — hello Liberty University employees!)
Childcare facilities
Law enforcement
Fire & emergency services
Military or veterans
Healthcare professionals (hello Centra!)
This grant is only available with Virginia Housing Bond Loans, which do have strict income limits:
2-person household: up to $90,000
3-person household: up to $103,000
