Just got off the phone with a client because we were both crying "happy tears", as she put it. Old case, old law, complications, struggles. When she came to me in March this year, we were days away from the fees being increased so I told her that if she worked hard and gave me all I needed, we could make it happen. She did and we filed against the clock, just days before April 1st, the deadline. Fast forward to July 19th, she is now a resident after 32 years in the US. She was brought here as a child and now she is finally able to live her life fully with her beautiful family. Congratulations, my dear!

Just got out from an internet based hearing for one of the hardest cases I have ever had in immigration court: 42B cancellation of removal after reopening the deportation order from 2001. When the judge said she’d place the case in queue for a visa, I had to keep my face straight and fight back tears of joy. My only regret is that my client was on camera too and I couldn’t give her a hug!

USCIS will start to issue work permits valid for 5 years for certain categories of applicants (applicants for green card , asylum, withholding of removal and cancellation of removal, as well as refugees, asylees, and those granted withholding. )
Let’s see if this will help solve the backlog and increase the fluidity of the processing timeline.

We are updating guidance in the Policy Manual to increase the maximum validity period to 5 years for initial and renewal Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for certain noncitizens who are employment authorized incident to status or circumstance, including those admitted as refugees, paroled a...

To all my clients and potential clients who consulted with me in the past: my phone is ringing off the hook about the Dignity Act of 2023. I have been through the roller coaster of amnesty rumors in 2007, 2008, then under Obama right before DACA, and in 2021….I hereby reiterate: I will confirm any change in legislation when it’s been SIGNED and PUBLISHED and it’s LAW. Proposals, ideas , bills, are not law. Let’s keep calm and if there is a new law, I will notify you.

Today was a full day, let’s say an almost all-around performance. Three clients, approved at three diferrent field offices (Los Angeles, Santa Ana and San Bernardino) for three diferrent cases: one for her green card, another one for her removal of conditions on her green card and last but not least - a new US citizen. The only thing missing to cover all areas was a court case but those are rarely happy cases so I feel better off without them.

Rain always brings me joy and luck. So let it rain!

YES! After months of playing hide and seek with USCIS and explaining the law and why my client qualifies and meets the criteria, they finally approved him for three years as an alien of extraordinary abilities, which he definitely is! I cannot wait for him to come to the US so I can enjoy his artistry live!

Client approved for immigrant visa at the US Consulate in Ciudad Juarez. In spite of real bad manners and treatment form the part of the Mexican staff, he kept his composure and head in the game. You would think that your own people would be more helpful and undestanding, but apparently not. I cannot wait for him to come back and enter the country as a legal immigrant. Then and only then I can say my work is done.

Backlog...let's all be a little patient.

State Department faced with a green card backlog. There has been a dramatic backlog in green card interviews. In October, it was reported that there were 468,891 pending interviews which minimally decreased by November, with 461,125 pending interviews remaining. The U.S. Department of State has yet to significantly increase its number of monthly interviews. Wait times have surged since the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. The pandemic continues to restrict the number of visas the State Department can process.
