No child should ever be restrained or isolated for “noncompliance.”
Yet restraint and seclusion are still used in schools, most often on children with disabilities, trauma histories, or behavioral needs.
These practices can cause serious harm and may violate protections under IDEA, Section 504, and the ADA.
If this has happened to your child:
⚠️ Request incident reports in writing
⚠️ Ask for a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)
⚠️ Document everything
⚠️ Seek legal guidance—you are not alone
Every child deserves safety, dignity, and respect at school.
