Great info guys! Check with your local county clerk’s office to see if they offer this service!!! Stay Aware!!!
Our employees review thousands of documents every year. Most are routine. One recent transaction deserved a closer look.
Recently, an individual attempted to record documents affecting the ownership of an Oklahoma County property using paperwork that did not meet Oklahoma's legal requirements.
Our Recording Department carefully reviewed the documents, explained why they could not be accepted to transfer ownership and asked additional questions when something didn't seem right. After the individual left, our staff worked to notify the property owner and coordinated with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, whose deputies responded to take a report.
I'm proud of our team's professionalism, attention to detail and commitment to protecting the integrity of Oklahoma County's land records. Every document matters, and our employees understand the important responsibility they have in serving the public.
While no system can prevent every attempt at property fraud, our free Property Alert service is an important first line of defense. Property Alert notifies you when a document is filed using your name or property information, helping you identify unexpected activity as early as possible.
