When you are dealing with Article 81 of the NY Mental Hygiene law as a guardian you must open a guardianship account with a bank. Make sure you have a a certified copy of the Order from the Court and your driver's license before going to the bank. Some banks are better than others. It should take a few days for the bank to check with their legal department. The entire process should take 5 to 7 business days.
