Nabisco did it right! You know Oreo. You (probably) love Oreo. You want Oreo...not that other cream-stuffed chocolate THING.

So, why is it that this cookie is so much more memorable, so much more sought after, so much more heralded than all the other ones out there?

Choosing a name is so much more than it seems. Nabisco knew that a unique, made-up, easy to say name was key to making their cookie the most recognized one out there.

Oh, and those made up names make the strongest trademarks, too!

CES: Swarovski Launches Wearables

Swarovski has joined forces with the technology company Misfit to develop a new line of health and fitness wearables that will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas, Nev.

The centerpiece of the new collection–Swarovski Shine–is a large faceted crystal embedded with Misfit’s fitness tracking technology. The crystal measures the number of steps taken, distance walked, calories burned and sleep quality while synchronizing wirelessly with an app on the wearer's smartphone. When tapped, the activity tracker lights up to indicate the time and activity status.

A number of classic Swarovski jewelry pieces including a bracelet and pendant have been redesigned to incorporate the crystal, along with the introduction of several completely new designs.

"With the Swarovski Shine collection, we were able to bring our strong jewelry styling point of view, developing versatile pieces that can work with this very practical device to really address modern and multifaceted women," says Nathalie Colin, creative director, Swarovski.

CES: Hershey Debuts Chocolate Printer

3D Systems is previewing the latest product to come from its partnership with The Hershey Company this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nev.–the CocoJet chocolate 3D printer.

Developed in collaboration with Hershey, the printer can create custom designs in dark, milk or white chocolate.

“We are now using 3D technology to bring Hershey goodness to consumers in unanticipated and exciting ways,” says Will Papa, chief research and development officer, The Hershey Company. “3D printing gives consumers nearly endless possibilities for personalizing their chocolate, and we look forward to continued development of this amazing technology.”

3DS is also showcasing its ChefJet printer series at CES, the first professional-grade 3D food printers, which produce full-color, edible 3D candies and décor.
