In 1937, William Henry Hastie became the first Black federal judge in U.S. history. In 1949, he became the first Black federal appellate judge. In 1967, Thurgood Marshall took his seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, having already changed the country by winning Brown v. Board of Education. These weren't just milestones. They were arguments won, doors forced open, and precedents set that still shape the law we practice today.
