Rosenthal Law & Mediation Compassionate lawyer, divorce mediator, and educator. I also an adjunct professor at the CUNY School of Law (my alma mater).

I started practicing family law by representing children in family court in 1997, and founded Rosenthal Law & Mediation in 2006. I approach my work with empathy, compassion, legal knowledge and skill. I understand that nothing is more important than the emotional, financial and spiritual health of your family.

We lost several exceptional women in one week—Dolly Parton, Gloria Steinem, and Cassandra Wilson. Though they expressed their spirits differently, each was a model for living with deep purpose and integrity.

Cassandra Wilson’s deeply resonant voice slowed everything down, making familiar words feel brand new. She viewed her craft not as a stage for a diva, but as a sacred space to seek truth and pay respect to those who came before her.

As her mentor Abbey Lincoln once said: "The best thing you can do is be a woman and stand before the world and speak your heart."

We have so little time on this planet, and oh, how fragile we are. May we all find the courage to speak our hearts while we can.

I’ve been reading and listening to everything I can about Dolly Parton lately. She lived with such deep integrity—from defending human rights to sending over 300 million books to children through her Imagination Library.

What struck me most was her capacity for seeing the best in people. As she once said, "I try to find that little God light in everybody... if you got enough of somebody caring, that can be ignited."

Writer Brian Mann noted that people like Dolly don't use their presence to make themselves bigger—they use it to make others feel more human. Let's keep finding that little God light in each other.
