Law schools and other graduate and professional programs are grappling with how to ensure that new federal loan limits of $50,000 per academic year, for those starting law school after July 1, don’t price students out of a legal education. Law schools, both public and private, are getting creative to ensure the new federal loan caps don’t put a law degree out of reach for aspiring lawyers.

I'm pleased to share that I've joined the faculty at Seton Hall University School of Law again as an adjunct professor, teaching Introduction to Lawyering this coming year — alongside my continued practice at Sullivan Law & Government Affairs Firm. ⚖️

Introduction to Lawyering is a six-credit, year-long course for first-year law students, focused on building the practical skills that form the foundation of legal practice: research, writing, interviewing, counseling, negotiation, and oral advocacy. I'll be working closely with a small group of students to help them develop these skills early in their careers. 📚

It's an honor to give back to the profession in this way, and I'm looking forward to mentoring the next generation of lawyers while continuing to serve my clients with the same commitment as always. 🎓

Another issue that deserves attention is the condition of the watershed surrounding the proposed development area of the Sandpits area, generally blocks 3301 and 3401 in Oakland NJ for a new development of 230 units.

New Jersey remains under a statewide drought warning, and Highlands mapping for multiple parcels associated with this tract identifies the Crystal Lake/Pond Brook subwatershed as having negative net water availability.

At the same time, the site contains extensive environmentally constrained features, including wetlands, riparian areas, steep slopes, groundwater recharge areas, and high watershed value classifications.

No one is suggesting development alone “causes” drought. But when a region is already experiencing water stress, cumulative impacts from additional impervious coverage, tree clearing, grading, and stormwater runoff deserve very careful scrutiny.

These are legitimate infrastructure and environmental planning concerns that should be fully evaluated as part of the approval process.
