When it comes to calculating child support or spousal maintenance, you might think the starting point is simple: look at what someone earns, do the math, and move on.

💡 Friday Tip: Don’t Wait for the School Bill to Have the Conversation 🎒

School expenses can add up quickly — and not every cost is as predictable as tuition or after-school care.

When creating or reviewing a parenting agreement, consider how you’ll handle sports, tutoring, activities, school trips, equipment, and other unexpected expenses. Will costs be shared? Does one parent need to approve an expense before the other commits? How will reimbursements work?

Getting specific now can mean fewer “Who’s paying for this?” conversations later.

Going through a divorce or custody matter? Before you post, comment, tag, or send that message, give yourself a quick pause.

Ask yourself: Would I be comfortable if my attorney, the other parent, or a judge saw this? If the answer gives you even a moment of hesitation, it may be better left offline.

And remember, “private” doesn’t always mean private. Screenshots can travel, messages can be saved, and a post can lose its original context very quickly.

You don’t have to stop using social media. Just use it thoughtfully.
