NEWS UPDATE: FDNY TRUCK AND MTA BUS COLLIDE IN THE BRONX

A collision between an FDNY fire truck and an MTA bus sent 19 people to area hospitals Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 12:32 p.m. near Southern Boulevard and Barretto Street in the Bronx. Five firefighters and 14 civilians were transported for medical evaluation, while three additional civilians were evaluated at the scene.

Surveillance footage and witness accounts are providing investigators with information about the moments leading up to the collision. However, officials have not determined which vehicle was at fault, and the investigation remains ongoing.

When a crash involves an MTA vehicle or an emergency vehicle, determining responsibility can require a careful review of the circumstances, available video, witness statements, medical records, and other evidence.

Multiple People Reportedly Injured in Bronx Collision

A serious collision involving an FDNY fire truck and an MTA bus occurred Tuesday afternoon near Barretto Street and Southern Boulevard in Longwood, Bronx.

So why does the calendar now need four reminders for the same errand?

A normal CT does not rule out a brain injury. Mild TBI often doesn't appear on standard imaging at all — which is exactly why insurers argue the injury isn't real.
