Merson Law attorney Noah M. Werksman recently secured a $1 million settlement for an older woman who suffered septic shock and the amputation of her left leg following negligent wound care in Onondaga County, New York.

The client had lived with venous stasis ulcers for decades and suffered from numerous serious health conditions. The defense relied on those conditions to argue that the loss of her leg was not caused by the care she received. Photographs documenting the progressive deterioration of her wounds became critical evidence in the case and would have allowed a jury to evaluate whether her ulcers had been properly cleaned and treated.
