Due to COVID, the Child Victims Act was extended, giving child sexual abuse victims another full year to bring a civil suit against their attackers, no matter how long ago the crime was committed. As things stand now, after August 14, 2021, statutes of limitations will enter into force, and this look-back window will close. The Child Victims Act removed all statutes of limitations for civil child sexual abuse cases—but only temporarily. The original window to file a suit was set to end August 14, 2020.
