How long has it been taking to fill open attorney jobs so far this year and does it vary by size of firm and practice group ?

Our data shows that across many practice areas, the size of the firm isn't drastically impacting the length of time a job stays open.

Within the shown practice areas, litigation positions were filled fastest at large and medium-sized firms, while corporate positions remained open the longest at large firms, leading to questions of whether firms are being more selective or if they were working with a smaller talent pool.

As Reuters reports in an article using Leopard Solutions data from our recent mid-year research, the legal market in Texas is on the rise with the state seeing the most new law firm office openings in the first half of the year.

"In the first half of 2022, six of the top 200 U.S. law firms by revenue opened new offices in the state, trailing only California and North Carolina in the number of new outposts this year, according to legal industry analytics company Leopard Solutions."
