Claudette Spencer-Nurse was born in Brooklyn and has lived in Philadelphia, Long Island and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She became a Lawyer in 1978 and has represented underprivileged persons in criminal court and in federal court to assure their civil rights were not violated in prisons. Her first book, published in 2018 tells how she met, married and had a child with a man serving twenty-five years in prison. In 2003, when her husband was paroled and deported back to his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, she and their 11-year old daughter moved with him. She is currently working on her second book, a prison mystery novel.
