Mark your calendar! This year’s conference brings together and creates a space for black scholars, social workers, students, and community leaders to come together to reflect, heal, and envision new possibilities. This year’s theme—”relationships” and the importance of their many dimensions—explores the ways family, community, and connection shape health, wellbeing, and resilience. The journeys and leadership of those who engage in this work reflect the heart of this theme, highlighting how mentorship, solidarity, and collective belief play a vital role in personal and professional growth. Voices that speak to these experiences resonate deeply—encouraging students preparing to enter this vital work, affirming practitioners who walk alongside individuals and communities each day, and reminding us all of the strength that comes from standing together. This gathering is grounded in a shared commitment to equity, justice, and healing, and offers an opportunity to connect with a community united by these values.

This is more than a conference.

We’re excited to be part of Another Choice Youth and Family Outreach's Open Streets community health initiative, transforming East 115th Street into a vibrant space for wellness, creativity, and connection. Every Friday from July 10 through August 14, community members are invited to participate in activities that promote physical, emotional, environmental, financial, and spiritual well-being. Our school is proud to join this effort and support opportunities for students, families, and neighbors to come together through movement, art, resources, and meaningful conversations. Come out on Aug. 7 & 14 at East 115th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a celebration of community health and connection!

Congratulations to Heather Morgan Shott, MSW ’26, on presenting two research projects she conducted during her MSW studies at the Silberman School of Social Work at the Postpartum Support International Annual Conference! Heather presented research examining affirming lactation care for transgender and gender-diverse families, as well as the critical role of doulas in identifying and supporting clients experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

What an incredible success the 6th Annual Silberman Aging Conference, “Aging with Resilience: Strengthening Communities for a Healthier Future,” turned out to be! A heartfelt thank you to our inspiring speakers, partnering organizations, and our dedicated staff, faculty, students, and volunteers whose hard work made this community-led conference possible. This conference showed that together, we can create a powerful space to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and advance equity and justice for older New Yorkers and their communities. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, passion, and commitment to making this event such a collaborative and inspiring gathering. From April 6–28, you can Give Early—and on April 29, join us for Giving Day: 24 hours of support for students and the programs that help them succeed.

At the Silberman School of Social Work, your gift helps provide critical resources for MSW students, including scholarships, student programming, and opportunities for community-based learning. It also ensures that talented and dedicated students have the support they need to pursue their education and make a meaningful impact.

➡️ How to Qualify / Eligibility
- You may give to either the MSW Fund or the BSW Fund to be eligible. (Link in bio)
- Early Giving begins April 6th and ends at 11:59 PM EST on April 28th.
- Giving Day runs from 12:00 AM EST to 11:59 PM EST on April 29th.
- Participation is first come, first served while supplies last; sizes are limited.
- You must provide a valid email address when giving to receive confirmation if you meet the qualifications.
- Limit of one of each giveaway item (Hoodie + Impact Box) per person, per household.
- Qualified participants will be notified via email with next steps.
