Associate Immigration Attorney
We are a full service immigration law firm handling cases including asylum application, family petitions, deportation defense, federal litigation and appeals. Based in downtown Manhattan and opening a satellite office in New Jersey, we are a small, intimate law office with a fast-paced, collaborative environment. We are currently looking to hire a bilingual associate to join our team and work primarily out of our Newark, NJ location. This is a full-time role.

Job Description:
· Appear regularly in immigration court on behalf of clients in removal proceedings;
· Represent unaccompanied minors and family guardians in family court and Special Immigrant Juvenile petitions;
· Prepare applications for relief from removal, including asylum, adjustment of status, special juvenile immigrant visas, cancellation of removal, O-1 visas, 212/601 waivers, TPS, DACA, and other applications;
· Represent individuals and businesses in applications before USCIS including appearing at interviews and responding to RFE’s;
· Research case law, write appellate briefs and legal memoranda;
· Litigate federal court matters including habeas corpus petitions and petitions for review;
· Communicate and coordinate with clients, family members, expert witnesses and others in all aspects of representation.
Requirements:
· JD or equivalent and licensure to practice law in at least New Jersey;
· Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal (non-bilingual candidates will not be considered); Knowledge of a third language is advantageous;
· Experience in immigration law with working knowledge of U.S. immigration system and terminology is advantageous;
· Extensive research and writing experience;
· Friendly, amiable client-facing demeanor;
· Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a self starter;
· Ability to handle face-paced and busy office environment;
· Compassion and patience in dealing with survivors of trauma;
· Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Excel, and general computer proficiency;
