Be Careful You Don’t Wind Up In Foreclosure!

Everyone has heard things like: “New York State Halts Evictions and Foreclosures Indefinitely.” However, it is extremely misleading. All civil cases came to a complete halt, but are starting back up again virtually. Call your loan servicer (the entity that sends you your monthly statement) and ask them what is happening with your loan and what programs they have. Mine told me they will suspend payments for three months. Guess what happens in three months? You will owe all three months of mortgage payments in one payment. Things may change and they may add other options in three months from now, but there is no way of knowing. If you don’t make the payments and have the money, make sure you keep it on the side and don’t spend it! If not, you are going to find yourself heading into foreclosure.
