NYC’s new pied-a-terre tax is live, and it’s not just for pieds-a-terre in the traditional sense. It can apply to homes valued over $5M and condo or co-op units valued at $1M+ that aren’t used as a primary residence, with rates up to 6.5% of market value.

If you think you might be exempt (primary residence of a tenant, family member, or majority owner counts), the application deadline is August 18.
