🚨 Important Update for International Students, Exchange Visitors, and Media
Representatives.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has introduced a new rule that would end "Duration of Status" for F, J, and I visa holders. This is a significant shift impacting international students, exchange visitors, and media representatives by replacing the flexible "duration of status" with fixed time limits.

We have broken down the details of this policy change and how it might affect your current status. Under this new framework, visa holders will no longer be admitted for duration of status, but for a fixed period indicated on Form I-94 (up to 4 years for F/J visas and up to 240 days for I visas). Crucially, extending your program with your school official (DSO) or sponsor (RO) on your Form I-20 or DS-2019 will no longer automatically extend your legal status. Your Form I-94 expiration date is now the strict, governing deadline for your lawful
stay.

As you build your life and legacy here, we want to ensure you have the resources and guidance to protect it. Stay informed and learn more about what this means for your future here:

Did you know there is a crucial difference between a "Notario" in Latin America and
a "Notary Public" in the United States? This common confusion often leads to devastating immigration scams.

● In Latin America: A Notario Público is a highly trained legal professional with authority similar to an attorney.

● In the United States: A Notary Public is only authorized to verify identities, take oaths, and witness signatures.

● The Danger: A U.S. Notary Public cannot provide legal advice, fill out immigration forms, or represent you in court.

Don't put your legal status at risk by trusting unauthorized individuals. Rely on licensed professionals who have your best interests at heart, like Torregoza Legal PLLC, the law firm for immigrants, by immigrants.

Protecting your family from immigration fraud requires vigilance and independent
verification. Before hiring anyone for legal assistance or making a payment, watch out for these major warning signs:

● The individual demands payments via WhatsApp, Zelle, wire transfers, or direct
deposits to personal bank accounts.

● They guarantee a specific outcome, an expedited process, or claim to know a
"secret" legal pathway.

● They refuse to provide a formal, written retainer agreement or detailed official
receipts for your payments.

● They claim government agencies like USCIS or ICE will contact you via WhatsApp to demand money.

Remember, U.S. government agencies will never ask for payment via text message. Always verify your attorney's credentials before proceeding. Visit our official website at https://www.torregozalegal.com/ for secure contact methods.

Immigration lawyers and organizations nationwide are seeing a massive surge in sophisticated scams targeting immigrant communities. Scammers are using social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to impersonate trusted attorneys and exploit families during their most vulnerable moments.

Please be aware of these alarming tactics:

● Fraudsters frequently target families with loved ones recently detained by ICE, falsely claiming a bond has been approved.

● They demand immediate, untraceable payments—often ranging from $5,000 to over $30,000—promising immediate release.

● Some scammers even stage fake virtual court hearings with accomplices posing as immigration judges.

Love knows no borders! 🏳️‍🌈✨ Today we are celebrating a major milestone for one of our wonderful couples.

We successfully secured an Immigrant Visa for the same-sex spouse of a U.S. Citizen at the U.S. Consulate in Manila! 🇵🇭🇺🇸

How we achieved this:

💍 Remote Wedding: The couple tied the knot via a State of Utah remote appearance ceremony while they were physically together in the Philippines (a 100% legally valid method for U.S. immigration purposes!).

📄 Seamless Approval: We compiled and submitted such a robust, comprehensive documentation package that USCIS approved the initial I-130 petition in just over a year without issuing a single Request for Evidence (RFE).

🛂 The Finish Line: Our team smoothly guided the case through the National Visa Center (NVC) and the Manila Consulate until the visa was officially issued.

Since the repeal of DOMA in 2013, marriage-based immigration benefits have been fully available to same-sex couples on equal footing. At Torregoza Legal, we are incredibly proud to guide the LGBTQIA+ community safely through every step of their U.S. immigration journey. 💼⚖️

Navigating a unique legal situation or a non-traditional marriage? We are here to help.

💼 Your Constitutional Rights: The 6th Amendment

The 6th Amendment gives you the right to speak to a lawyer. While the government does not provide free attorneys in immigration court, you absolutely have the right to hire one.

⚠️ Important: Avoid "notarios" or unauthorized providers who make false promises. Always seek advice from a licensed immigration attorney.

The “Impossible” Immigration Approvals (And how we got them) 👇

U.S. immigration isn’t just about filing paperwork. It’s about telling a compelling story that USCIS cannot ignore. Lately, the system has felt like an uphill battle for artists, families, and professionals alike.

But we just unlocked 3 massive wins for our clients without any Requests for Evidence (RFE):

1. The 3-Year O-1B Visa (Ecuadorian Comic/Television Personality) 📺
The Challenge: Proving “extraordinary ability” in comedy and television to a rigid government system.
The Result: Approved for the full 3-year term. Zero RFEs.

2. The O-1B Artist Renewal (Indian Illustrator & Book Designer) 🎨
The Challenge: Renewing non-immigrant artist visas can often face heavier scrutiny the second time around.
The Result: Approved in just a couple of weeks, allowing her to continue creating her art in the U.S. uninterrupted.

3. The 10-Year Green Card (I-751 Joint Filing Waiver for a Haitian National) 🇭🇹
The Challenge: The client was divorced from their petitioning U.S. citizen spouse, a situation that typically triggers immediate red flags and immense stress.
The Result: We successfully secured a waiver of the joint filing requirement, granting them their 10-year permanent residency.

Specificity wins. Hard work delivers.

Every case has a unique roadblock. But with the right legal strategy, the “impossible” becomes an approval notice.

Are you navigating a complex visa or green card journey?

Let’s map out your path to success.
