In the draft Justice Alito writes, “The inescapable conclusion is that a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions,” — This opens the door to taking away all the others too.

You know what is deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions? Racism, slavery and anything contrary to being a heterosexual Christian white male.

JLJLAW and ACLU put racist policing on trial!

After 15-year-old K.P. begged the officer through tears, “please don’t shoot my daddy,” the officer, who was holding a gun to the child’s father’s head, turned the gun on K.P. and his two friends. That April 17, 2020 was an evening of terror for Wesley Pigott and his two children, K.P. and...

Today we saw a small glimmer of hope in the long night of darkness we have been living through.

It took 9 minutes and 29 seconds to end George Floyd's life but he will live on forever in the systemic change sparked by the injustice of his death.

But the struggle does not end today. The protests and calls for reform can't end either. We must NEVER stop until there are no more names to add to the hash tag of tragedies. We NEVER stop until we fully respect the dignity and sanctity of the lives of every person we encounter.

This will never end until we stand together, united as neighbors and fellow citizens of the world. We are stronger together, even if we disagree. It's not just a matter of wanting to do better. It is a moral imperative that we each act, in ways big and small, to be the change we wish to see.

We must move forward knowing that "the norms and notions of what 'just is' isn't always justice." Amanda Gorman, The Hill We Climb

“This is a critical moment, an inflection point in America’s history,” said Anthony Cecutti and Jennifer R. Louis-Jeune. “It is time to fully reckon with the truth—that racist practices, rooted in America’s history of slavery and white supremacy, permeate and persist in the legal system and policing. Our law offices are proud to partner with the ACLU of Louisiana and the Justice Lab.”

NEW ORLEANS – Amid a reckoning against police violence and racial injustice, 14 law school clinics and 34 law firms have, to date, partnered with the ACLU of Louisiana’s campaign to dismantle racially discriminatory policing practices.

Honoring the presumption of innocence is often difficult; sometimes we must pay substantial social costs as a result of our commitment to the values we espouse. But at the end of the day the presumption of innocence protects the innocent; the shortcuts we take with those whom we believe to be guilty injure only those wrongfully accused and, ultimately, ourselves.
