Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice Advancing justice by engaging lawyers to support civil society and an ethically active profession. The Cyrus R.

Vance Center for International Justice mobilizes the global legal profession to engage in activities that promote social justice, human rights and democratic values and principles. We perform our work in partnership with private- and public-sector lawyers, members of the judiciary, law schools, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in the regions where we work. Founded in 2003, the Vance Center is part of the New York City Bar Association. We have access to all the resources of the City Bar and its affiliate, the City Bar Justice Center, and members of the City Bar are involved in planning and carrying out all of our activities. The Vance Center's name honors the memory of Cyrus R. Vance, past president of the City Bar and former United States Secretary of State.

Our Pro Bono Legal Manager Pedro Villegas reflected on a busy week in Guatemala, at and in meetings with civil society and law firm partners.

💡 The highlight? A session organized with the Asociación Pro Bono de Guatemala and the Pro Bono Network of the Americas that brought together attorneys from partner firms, representatives of nonprofit organizations, and colleagues from across the region to discuss the regulatory framework of Guatemala's NGO Law, share concerns, and examine steps organizations can take to ensure they understand the law and meet its requirements.

We also had a chance to connect with our Vance Center client, Guatemalan journalist José Rubén Zamora, who addressed the conference. It was a pleasure to meet with him in this setting. We are committed to continue representing him at the international level and supporting the fight for justice in his case. ⚖️

¡MAÑANA! Con el Centro Mexicano Pro Bono, te invitamos al evento de relanzamiento del Manual de Herramientas Jurídicas para la Atención de Mujeres en Situación de Violencia.

Conoce Justicia por Ellas, una iniciativa que reúne herramientas jurídicas, un directorio de instituciones especializadas y un ciclo de capacitaciones gratuitas con expertas en violencia de género.💜

El proyecto reúne el Manual de Herramientas Jurídicas para la Atención de Mujeres en Situación de Violencia, un directorio de instituciones especializadas en México y capacitaciones grabadas con expertas en violencia de género.

A partir del trabajo conjunto entre el Centro Mexicano Pro Bono, A.C. y el Vance Center a través de nuestro programa de Prácticas para el Acceso a la Justicia, se desarrollaron distintos recursos que hoy conforman un ecosistema integral de acceso a la justicia.⚖️

El evento cuenta con la participación de la Mtra. Leslie Idalia Jiménez Urzua, abogada especializada en derecho penal y perspectiva de género, maestra en Derecho por la UNAM, profesora de la Facultad de Derecho y consultora en casos de violencia de género.

💡The Vance Center and Mexican WIP chapter Abogadas MX invite you to join a global conversation on LIDERA, Mexico’s first research and accreditation framework designed specifically for law firms to help build more inclusive and equitable workplaces.

Built in collaboration with 100+ law firms in Mexico, LIDERA offers an evidence-based approach to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

Through this session, we'll introduce the accreditation framework, identify opportunities for collaboration, and explore how this initiative could take shape in other contexts.

This session is open to members of all WIP chapters. Other legal professionals interested in learning more about LIDERA and applying these findings to their own firms are also welcome to attend.
