Pavel Sokolov and his family immigrated from Russia in the early 90s, settling in Edison NJ. He graduated from J.P. Stevens High School, Rutgers University with a degree in accounting, cm laude, and also earning a Master's in Taxation from Baruch College.
He is proud to have been an educational advocate for over a decade, serving as Student Body President of Rutgers University, where he lobbied Trenton and Congress for Higher Education funding and support services for students. Pavel advocated for the passage of the Higher Education bond act of 2013 and led Rutgers in instituting a preferred name policy to support our LGBT students on campus. Recently, Pavel led the Vote No Coalition to a 2-1 victory over the proposed HS referendum, as well as serving as the Hoboken Republican Committee Secretary. Pavel hopes to use his skills and experience as a Certified Public Accountant to ensure that every dollar of our budget is being used to positively impact Hoboken’s students. Pavel, a decade long resident of Hoboken with his fiancée Angelika, is looking forward to raising his family in Hoboken.
